The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to work in the Product Development team. It involves working closely with a team of mechanical, electrical, controls, manufacturing and quality engineers to design and develop new standard HVAC products whilst maintaining the existing portfolio.
The Role
The role consists of working as part of a team to develop new product design projects in accordance with APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and relevant SOM guidelines from concept through to full product launch. You will aid the Lead Mechanical engineer where necessary and as a team will be responsible for creating design briefs for company wide approval, performance predictions, hitting cost targets, designing products with manufacturing and assembly in mind to allow labour targets to be met, project timescales, technical features, training and all critical deliverables.
Supplier technology plays an important part of new designs so it is anticipated that supplier and purchasing communication will be frequent. Preferred suppliers will be used wherever possible in a manner that ensures high quality products are available using most efficient manufacturing processes. Comparisons with competitor’s products will be expected as projects require.
