Controls Engineers (South)

The Opportunity

As part of the growth of the Airedale Controls Department an exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic candidate to join the team. The role is to support the delivery of all software based solutions. As part of the software team you will be involved from conception to project completion gaining valuable experiences along the way.

Job Requirements

  • Design and code control systems strategies for HVAC applications using Carel, Trend, Tridium Niagara and Siemens controls platforms
  • Test software using functional test simulators to ensure correct operation
  • Produce project documentation including control philosophies, O&M manuals, functional test scripts and BMS points lists
  • Site commissioning of controls projects and system integration (BMS/Energy Monitoring/HVAC controls/upgrade works)
  • Attend internal and external client/site meetings as necessary to determine initial scope of works and correct functionality during commissioning
  • Work closely with the Research & Development department to incorporate new technologies and features into projects and report improvements back
  • Assist with training and mentoring of engineers and apprentices
  • Provide technical support for site engineers and customers as required
  • Be a focal point for customers, helping to resolve any issues and develop our commitment to them
  • Liaise with Customers and Project Engineers.
  • Gain, maintain and grow valuable client relationships
  • Maintain a high standard of quality control
  • Be prepared to work away from home when required.
  • Work overtime when required.

Skills & Experience

  • Hold a technical degree and/or have experience within the field of controls/BMS
  • OR Have served a recognised apprenticeship in air conditioning/refrigeration and have good electrical/mechanical knowledge of HVAC, with a desire to learn the software side
  • Experience with programmable controllers is desirable but not essential – the willingness and capability to learn is essential. Of particular interest:
    • Carel 1tool software and pCO controllers
    • Tridium Niagara 4 software and controllers
  • Capable of understanding and designing control strategies
  • Experience with HVAC applications and knowledge of cooling and heating systems
  • Good electrical knowledge and capable of understanding electrical drawings
  • Have basic knowledge of IT systems and communication networks
  • Awareness of BMS and common communication protocols (Modbus, BACnet, TCP/IP)
  • Logical and methodical approach to problem solving using own initiative is a must
  • Have good written & communication skills
