THE CHALLENGE
Skip Truex, Director of Buildings and Grounds for District 118 in Danville, Ill., needed a heating, cooling and ventilation solution to replace the outdated and inefficient steam systems in several Danville schools. His primary goal was to ensure a comfortable, safe, and healthy environment for students and staff. Reliable performance, quiet operation and superior Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) topped his list of priorities. Truex’s motto is “keep it simple.” He wanted to avoid extensive ductwork and filters that would need to be maintained and could distribute contaminants through the system. Good stewardship of taxpayers’ dollars also meant finding a cost-effective, long-lasting and financially beneficial solution. Drawing upon over 30 years of experience in the commercial industrial HVAC business, Truex was interested in individual units that could provide hot water, heat, air conditioning and superior air quality in each classroom.
